Plate Cheese Like a Pro

Though it's unofficial, July is the cheesiest month of the year - the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival takes over Shelburne Farms on August 16th and ushers in a string of national and worldwide cheese competitions where Vermont producers win big. Of course, we don't need fancy awards to know that Vermont cheese is exceptional, but it's nice to share our knowledge with the world. Naturally, Vermont chefs also know a thing or two about our state pride and you can find gourmet cheese lists and boards in restaurants across the state. Two of the summer's most anticipated food and beverage events happen within one week of each other! On July 16th the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival comes to Shelburne Farms bringing Vermont's world-famous cheesemakers together under one roof (or tent, rather) to sample hundreds of new and classic styles surrounded by beverage and specialty food artisans to complement. The following weekend, July 21st and 22nd, is the Vermont Brewers Festival in Burlington where thousands of beer lovers pilgrimage to the craft beer mecca that is the Green Mountain State.
